Morvillo has represented clients involved in many high-profile matters, including the criminal trial of Martha Stewart, criminal and civil investigations relating to former AIG CEO Maurice “Hank” Greenberg, criminal cases related to Galleon Hedge Fund, Level Global Hedge Fund, SAC Fund, employees of numerous international investment banks, partners of Big 4 accounting firms, and a former consultant to the NBA Players Association. 

Morvillo cases involve many different issues including insider trading, market manipulation, accounting fraud, false public statements, CDOs and other asset-backed securities, unregistered and registered public offerings, market making and  trading activities, broker dealer sales practices, auction rate  securities, proxy violations and other complex subject matters.

Morvillo has tried numerous SEC enforcement actions to verdict and handled many appeals from SEC enforcement actions.

Though Morvillo strives in all cases to prevent the government from bringing charges, our name partner has tried many criminal and civil cases in various federal courts, most frequently in the Southern  District of New York. 

In recent years, Morvillo has criminal and civil insider trading cases, criminal securities fraud cases, and SEC disclosure cases. Several of the cases have garnered significant public attention, especially those in the insider trading area e.g., U.S. v. Newman, SEC v. Durant, SEC v. Huang, U.S. v Amanat and more.

Morvillo has also handled numerous appeals in the criminal and securities enforcement arena.  These appeals have taken place in the Second, Third, Fourth and Tenth Circuits.
